Public house. C17, remodelled in C18. Incised stucco on timber-frame with rusticated quoins; steep rag slate hipped front roof with projecting eaves and exposed rafter ends; rendered rubble end stacks; rear wing with steep asbestos slate roof with hipped canted rear end and 2 rendered rubble lateral stacks. 2 storeys; 2-window range. Early C19 hornless sashes with glazing bars; 20-pane sashes on the left and wide 24-pane sash at lower level to 1st-floor right directly over wider early C19 3-light shopfront with 12 panes per light and simple moulded entablature. Central pilastered doorway. INTERIOR: room on right is full-depth of 5 bays with C17 axial beams and joists, the end of the beams carried on later, reused ships' timbers. The fireplace of the former front room has a rare late C18 cast-iron double horseshoe grate.
