GV II

Small cottage, spanning Lilley's Alley. C16 and C19. Timber-framing, brick, tile roof. A small building, with a square-panel timber-framed unit over the alley, and a 2-storey gabled brick main unit. Under the framed unit is a square-panel framed wall with painted brick nogging containing a plank door, and one large structural post; the wall to the outer side of the alley is in brick. The return, facing S, is in new or re-used brick, with a large 2-light gabled dormer above an opening with wood lintel. On the N side is a low return wing, which links to Tudor Cottage (qv) adjoining. INTERIOR not inspected. One of the few properties which still span an alley, and were built on rear burgage plots as a result of population pressure.
