GV II
Pair of cottages at end of row on corner with St Mary's Road. Probably late C16. Timber-frame with painted brick nogging, brick, tile roofs. Parallel 4-bay plan. Pair of cottages of one build, but roof at back not continuous; they back directly on the Friends Burial Ground of 1660. 2 storeys and attic, 2+2-windowed. At first floor all 2-light, but in 16 those to left are paired about a frame post; all are small-pane casements, C20 to No.18 and C19 to No.16. At ground floor one 3-light to each property, that to No.16 is horizontal sliding sash; left of each the doors, to No.16 is plank, and No.18 is C20 containing fanlight. A bressumer beam above door and window to No.16 suggests former shop front here. Central ridge brick stack. Right gable shows framing, including queen-post gable frame; left return partly concealed by later addition (not of special interest) with small attic light in framing. Back mainly rebuilt in brick, but some return of framing to No.16; various single or 2-light windows. INTERIOR not inspected.
