GV II
Bank. Mid C19 in Italianate style, with C20 alterations. Red brick in Flemish bond with paler brick headers and limestone dressings, roof concealed by parapet and brick end and lateral stacks. 2-storey, 3-window range. Building stands on corner of Market Square and West Street, and has central C20 double-leaf door to Market Square in C20 porch with overlight, stone surround with panelled pilasters and console brackets, supporting moulded cornice hood; blocking cornice and small wrought-iron balcony on top. Ground-floor windows have moulded stone surrounds with moulded cornices. Plate-glass sash windows to 1st floor with moulded stone surrounds and segmental pediments. Rendered plinth, rusticated quoins, entablature to eaves with deep, moulded cornice and brick, stone-coped parapet concealing roof. Similar 4-bay elevation, without door, to West Street.
