House, now hotel. Dated 1654 in west gable (datestone with
eagle-and-child carving). Originally a U-plan C17 house with
C18 remodelling, including a good pedimented doorway with
flanking windows, but is now almost entirely concealed by
recent additions. INTERIOR: mid-C18 doorway and flanking
sashed windows, with pedimented moulded architrave and studded
board door; some muntin-and-rail panelling in room to right of
entrance hall; a doglegged open-string staircase with scrolled
brackets, turned balusters and ramped handrail; and at 1st
floor a rectangular chamber fireplace with moulded surround,
and some beams with broad chamfer.
