Statue of Joseph Howarth. Erected 1868. H.Burnett of Oldham, sculptor. Polished granite and sandstone. High granite plinth with cornice carries life-size figure in sandstone, carrying a bell and stick and wearing a top hat. Joseph Howarth was known as the blind bellman of Oldham, and the statue was erected by public subscription.
