Includes: No. 2 Roslin Road, Oxton Pair of houses. c1850-58. Lined out stucco channelled to ground floor and Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, symmetrically-planned in Italianate style, each house double pile , 2-unit plan. Outer entrances in recessed bays with round arched doorway and part-glazed and stained glass panels to doors. 2 upper windows also round-headed with margin lights. Main range has pedimented outer gables with canted bay windows to ground floor with mullioned and transomed casements and round arched windows with keyblocks above. Central range of 2 bays, with French windows with margin lights and shallow segmental heads to ground floor, and 2-light casement windows above with panelled aprons. Continuous sill band. Modillion brackets carry projecting eaves and moulded cornice to pediment in each gable. Axial stacks. (Plan of Birkenhead and Claughton cum Grange 1858: Mills and Fletcher, Surveyors: 1858-).
