SE780715 ST MICHAEL STREET 801-1/8/132 (North side) No.6


House and shop. Early C19, with later C19 alteration. Coursed dressed sandstone, with slate roof and brick stacks at right end and at left rear. Central stairhall plan, with rear wing. 2-storey 3-window front. Left-of-centre 4-panelled front door with overlight, and 16-pane sash further left. To right, single shopfront of plain pilasters and cornice: half-glazed and panelled shop door with overlight, and 2-light shop window with moulded glazing bar and canopy blind box. On first floor, windows are 16-pane sashes. All house openings have flat arches of voussoirs, and all sash windows have painted stone sills. Rear: 1-storey outshut. First-floor windows are 2-light 16-pane sliding sashes. INTERIOR: dogleg staircase with stick balusters, moulded handrail and turned newel. Original shop fittings survive in shop.
