GV II

Terrace of 6 houses. 1842. Probably by Charles Underwood. Stucco with limestone dressings, party wall stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys and basement; 1-window range. A composed terrace with the end and middle pair broken forward, banded ground floor to a string, and dentil cornice and parapet. Right-hand doorways, No.1 in the right return with a single-storey porch with pilasters and cornice; rectangular overlights with margin panes, and doors with 2 rectangular panels. Tripartite windows, with pilaster jambs to the ground and first floors, with 4/4-pane and flanking 2/2-pane sashes; single 6/6-pane basement sash. Tented balconies to first-floor windows have cast-iron brackets and wrought-iron railings with quatrefoils. INTERIOR not inspected, but reported as having a central lateral dogleg stair, panelled shutters and 6-panel doors. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached wrought-iron railings to front steps, and front garden walls with piers with round-faced caps. (Pollack A: Canynge Square: Bristol: 1986-).
