House. c1860. Perhaps by JA Clark. Limestone ashlar with ridge stacks and a pantile hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Italianate style. 3 storeys and basement; 3-window range. A symmetrical front with the middle broken forward, outer ground-floor pilasters and quoins above, banded ground floor to a plat band, and stone bracketed eaves. Narrow semicircular-arched windows to sashes with horizontal bars: central wide canted 3-light bay has consoles at the angles and a balustrade, and 3-light outer ground-floor windows have consoles to panelled jambs; first-floor central 3-light and outer 2-light windows framed by thin pilasters to a raised lintel, and similar smaller attic windows with plain surrounds and C20 glazing. Tall rendered stacks with cornices. Right-hand single-storey porch has an open, banded entrance with tall semicircular arch, a scrolled side panel beneath a semicircular-arched side window, and inner porch with pilasters flanking a semicircular arch containing paired windows, with a semicircular-arched doorway and 2-leaf 8-panel door and overlight. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached balustrades to porch, front garden piers, and gate piers with quoins and capitals to spear-headed cast-iron gates.
