II
Swing bridge across River Avon. 1900. Superstructure built by Lysaght's. Hydraulic gear by Armstrong Whitworth. Pennant rubble and steel. Square pier on S bank of New Cut, with cutwaters separated by an arch at the bottom, carrying a round drum and lattice swing bridge, which tapers towards the north bank. Supported there by a smaller pier with a steel staircase to Cumberland Road. Battered abutment on the S bank, with coped walls opening out onto Coronation Road. Not opened since 1936. (Lord J and Southam J: The Floating Harbour: Bristol: 1983-: 67).
