GV II

Attached pair of houses. Early C18, altered early C19. Stucco, brick gable stacks and pantile roof. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Pilaster strips to corners and centre, to coved eaves, and eaves gables. Paired C19 semicircular-arched doorways to the centre have raised surrounds, 5-pane fanlights and 6-panel doors. Narrow 6/6-pane sashes in exposed frames, No.30 has a 8/8-pane ground-floor sash, blank window over the doorway, and C20 casements to the second floor. 2 hipped dormers each, slate to No.32. Original rear casements. INTERIOR: fully panelled front room with raised panels, cornice and panelled shutters with window seats, panelling partition to entrance hall; rear dogleg stair has uncut string, turned balusters, square panelled newels and a moulded rail which intersects the string; 2-panel doors, flagged hall. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached wrought-iron front area railings. (Gomme A: Street Index of Buildings of Architectural or Historic Interest: 59).
