GV II

Terrace of 11 houses. c1850. By Thomas Pennington. Limestone ashlar, party wall stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys and basement; 1-window range. Articulated by pilasters to a frieze, cornice and parapet, and coped party walls. Banded ground floor, right-hand recessed doorways with overlights and 2-panel doors. Architraves, with console cornices to the first floor and bracketed slate balconies and cast-iron railings, 6/6-pane sashes, 3/3-panes on the second floor. The right-hand return has a symmetrical 3-window range, with a semicircular-arched recess and central doorway. INTERIOR: hall with semicircular arch to a central lateral dogleg winder stair, stick balusters, curtail and cast-iron newel, and a cupboard between the stair and the party wall; cornices with palmettes, 6-panel doors and shutters.
