ST5673SE SION HILL, Clifton 901-1/7/1022 (East side) 08/01/59 No.9 and attached area railings and gates (Formerly Listed as: SION HILL Nos.9 AND 9A)

GV II

Attached house. c1790. Limestone ashlar with brick party wall stacks and a slate mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 3 storeys, attic and basement; 4-window range. Pilaster strips to a cornice and parapet, and to the right-hand 1-window entrance section, and rusticated ground-floor to a plat band. The doorway has an architrave, plate-glass overlight, and 6-panel door with the upper 4 raised. Horned ground-floor plate-glass sashes, triple first-floor sashes and 6/6-pane second-floor sashes. Full-width first-floor tented timber balcony has cast-iron brackets and elaborate railings and stanchions. The mansard roof extends as far as the entrance section, above which the roof is not visible. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron spike-headed front basement area railings and gates, and piers and ramped walls to the doorway.
