GV II

Pair of attached houses. Late C18. Brick, brick ridge stacks and pantile mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 2 storeys and attic; 6-window range. A symmetrical pair with 3-storey bays to projecting ends, moulded parapet coping and coped gables. Each doorway set symmetrically between windows in the middle section, having consoles to an open pediment and a 6-panel door, and segmental relieving arches over C20 casements to both sides; the bays have 6/6-pane sashes flanked by 4/4-pane sashes, and casements on the second floor, in flush frames; single dormer over the doorways. INTERIOR not inspected, but noted as having a hall with lateral dogleg stair to the front of the house, with ramped rails and stick balusters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: spear-headed front area railings, gates, and Pennant piers. (Mellor P: A Kingsdown Collection: Bristol: 1987-).
