ST5773NE SOUTHLEIGH ROAD, Clifton 901-1/3/1040 (North East side) 04/03/77 Nos.3-9 (Odd) and attached area railings (Formerly Listed as: SOUTHLEIGH ROAD Nos.3-39 (Odd))

GV II

Terrace of 4 houses. 1852. By Thomas Pennington. Limestone ashlar, party wall stacks and a slate mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style, with Greek Revival decoration. Each of 3 storeys, basement and attic; 3-window range. A continuation of Nos 11-39 (qv), but with symmetrical 3-window fronts. Banded ground floor, pilasters above with incised palmette decoration to a frieze, cornice and parapet. Central recessed doorway has an overlight with margin panes, and 2-panel door. Architraves to 6/6-pane sashes, larger on the first floor, the end houses have bracketed first-floor slate balconies with cast-iron railings. INTERIOR: lobby to a glazed door with margin panes, a central dogleg winder stair with turned balusters, a curtail, and wreathed rail; cornices, 6-panel doors and shutters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached front area spear-headed railings.
