Attached house. c1814. By Stephen Hunter. Limestone ashlar, party wall stacks and slate roof. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys, attic and basement; 3-window range. Entrance front has a projecting ground floor with a cornice and flat roof, banded first floor with large projecting 3-light bow set in from the left, with a sill band and moulded brackets to a cornice with raised panels between, third-floor string and cornice, with attic storey with moulded coping. Projecting left-hand open porch has square piers with banded reveals, imposts, panelled above, with semicircular arches between and to narrow sides blocked by low balustrades; segmental-arched doorway has a 2-leaf 6-panel door with raised upper panels and cut off corners. 4 windows to the right, the middle ones blind, with segmental-arched heads and pilasters, over a full-width segmental basement arch with 4 windows with glazing bars. Horned 6/6-pane first-floor sashes, the middle one blind, with eared surrounds, 3/6-pane second-floor and attic sashes. Front elevation built on a massive red rubble revetment. 2 storeys, attic and double basement; 4-window range; a lower basement has curved end, a parapet with a central balustrade section, the left return is banded with curved end and balustrade. Basement has 3 windows with pedimented lintels; at the right end a projecting 5-window bow has a glazed dome. 6/6-pane sashes, 3/6-pane second-floor and attic storey sashes, and 2 dormers. INTERIOR not inspected. Added to The Paragon when completed by Hunter, and with matching floor levels to No.14 (qv). Part of the important view of Clifton from the S across the Avon.
