Rickard's Warehouse in Wood's Yard

Malthouse, now warehouse. Late C18/early C19. Brick; plain
tile roof; three storeys; 3-window range: fixed lights with
central mullions, and glazing bars, in round-headed cases
under brick segmental arches; blocked opening to right; to far
right, plank door in beaded case. Three fixed lights with central
mullions, over. Entrances: to left, double plank doors in
chamfered frame, flanked by openings with central wood
mullions, and iron bars, all under segmental arches; to right,
smaller double doors in oak frame in altered opening; to
right, opening with central mullion, and iron bars, under
segmental arch. Right returned side: blocked opening to ground
floor; blocked doorway to first floor. Left returned side: stone
faced steps to late C19 plank door to 1st floor, under late
C19 canopy. Rear of brick on rubble plinth; three blocked openings
under brick segmental arches, one of plaster in oak frame.
INTERIOR: roof of cruck-derived construction with open-mortice
ridge joints, and ridge board; massive trenched purlins;
curved wind braces; wall plates. First floor: walls plastered;
walls and timbers limewashed; original door under hoist.
