GV II

House and shop in row. Late C17, or early C18. Rendered, but return gable, left, in good squared cut stone; asbestos cement slate roof. Built as a two-room heated cross-passage plan. Two storeys and attic, 2 windows. 4-pane sashes, but with enlarged opening in plate-glass bottom left, a former display window. Near-central C20 glazed door. Left gable return includes a blocked small attic light in chamfered flush surround; large kneeler stones to gable. There are also blocked single-light windows in the right-hand party wall, visible inside No 30, Easton Square (qv). Back has added C20 elements, but retains central gabled section with kneelers, most coping stones missing (June 1991), and with a former chamfer surround light now with later casement at first-floor level. Interior retains rough chamfered transverse beams, deep bressumer fireplace to solid stone cheeks to right, flanked by rough timber beams or joists in recess to left, one 4-panel fielded door, and a door with wide planks to a winder staircase, centre back. Property extended at back. This property is visually part of Easton Square, part of a group with Nos 30 and 31 (qqv) in the Square.
