Public house. Mid C19. Coursed slatestone with brick and stucco dressings to front; slatehanging to right-hand return, otherwise rubble; hipped grouted rag slate roof with 2 stuccoed axial stacks; projecting eaves over modillion cornice. Deep plan including rear service wing. 2 storeys; 1:1:1-bay front. Recessed central bay with 3-light window over pair of round-arched doorways; otherwise 2-light windows: segmental-arched windows to 1st-floor left and right, otherwise round-arched windows, all with original 2-pane hornless sashes; moulded arches, stepped imposts and caps over mullions and sills on brackets. Rear wing has sashes with glazing bars. INTERIOR has many original features including some moulded ceiling cornices and open-well staircase. This building is an interesting and externally complete example of a public house built to cater for the trade provided by the Cornwall Railway passengers.
