Details
TACKLEY WHITEHILL SP41NE 3/77 Field Cottage - II Cottage, formerly two. Early C17 with C19 and C20 alterations; extended and raised to rear late C20. Limestone rubble. C20 cement tile roof; old brick central stack. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. Blocked doorway on left. C19 three-light casements with glazing bars and painted wood lintels. 2 mid C20 roof dormers have 2-light casements with glazing bars. Return sides have plank doors. Interior: room to left has stone open fireplace with rough bressumer, and rough ceiling beam. Room to right has large open fireplace with chamfered stone surround; old bressumer, imported from elsewhere, inserted below a fragment of the original. Deep splayed interior lined with stone and old bricks has bread oven. Broad-chamfered ceiling beam has stepped stop.
