II
Tower, 1927 reusing C17 material from Lower Holes Farmhouse, formerly situated ) mile to North east, Sugworth Hall (q.v.) - Rubblestone. 4-storey tower, square on plan, with taller stair tower at one corner. Quoins. Doorway has quoined surround and shallow triangular head in lintel. Stone mullioned windows, with mullions recessed, of 4 lights to 1st and 2nd floors, 3 larger lights to 3rd floor. Rainwater spouts project from base of crenellated parapet. Stair tower, also crenellated, has small window, doorway on to tower roof and flagpole. A prominent landmark in the countryside, built as a job- creation scheme.
