History

North Walsham is a medieval market town that grew wealthy from the trade of wool and cloth. The town was largely rebuilt following a fire in 1600 but remained a significant market centre into the Industrial Revolution.

The building at Numbers 46 – 47 Market Place dates to the early C19, and is located on one of the earliest roads developed in North Walsham. The building was recorded in the 1842 Tithe Apportionment as a house and shop. It has undergone alterations to its shop front and internally in the late C20, including the removal of the glazing bars to the shop front windows.
