SP1954NE CHURCH STREET 604-1/9/55 (West side) Gazebo approximately 42 metres west of Mason Croft
GV II
Gazebo. Probably early to mid C18 with c1900 alterations for Marie Corelli. Brick; ogival tile roof. 2-storey square structure. Platt band over ground floor and top cornice. South face has entrance to ground floor with arch-braced pentice over half-glazed door; offset projection to ground floor left, with narrow external stack to angle. West and east faces have round-headed openings, that to west with pegged frame and leaded glazing, that to east blocked, and 1:3:1-light 1st floor oriels on moulded bases and with hipped roofs over leaded glazing. North face has blocked round-headed opening to ground floor, 1st-floor entrance up timber staircase, with hipped canopy and rubbed brick flat arch over half-glazed door. INTERIOR: ground floor has corner fireplace with Delft tiles; 1st floor has C18 panelling with cornice, corner fireplace with Delft tiles and overmantel, recess with shelves and bolection-moulded door; c1900 fixed furniture including desk used by Marie Corelli.
