Details

ELSHAM BARNETBY LANE TA 01 SW (south side) 5/18 The Mount - II Farmhouse. Mid C18 with mid C19 additions and alterations, C20 rebuilt left gable-end. Red brick with concrete tile roof. L-shaped on plan: C18 2-room central entrance-hall front (formerly 3 rooms) with C19 entrance porch flanked by bay windows, C18 kitchen wing to rear right and C19 infill in angle. 2 storeys, 3 bays; symmetrical. Projecting brick porch with panelled door beneath fanlight with geometric glazing bars in ribbed doorcase with hood; stone-coped gable with shaped kneelers. Projecting ground-floor canted brick bays have tripartite plate glass sashes with wooden mullions beneath plain frieze. First floor: central 16-pane sash in flush wooden architrave with projecting sill and stucco keyed cambered arch, flanked by tripartite sashes with glazing bars in similar surrounds. Stepped and finely-dentilled brick eaves cornice. Stone-coped gable with shaped kneelers to right. End stack to right, axial stack to left. Right return, front range, has C19 ground-floor sash, first-floor 12-pane sliding sash and attic sash with leaded lights; brick to right at first-floor sill level incised I C 1767.
