7/139 Rectory Cottage - II
Small estate house. Probably late C17/early C18. Colourwashed rendered cob on stone footings; thatched roof with a plain ridge, hipped at ends; axial stack. Plan: Single depth 3 room plan the 2 left hand rooms heated by back to back fireplaces in an axial stack associated with a winder stair; baffle entrance facing the chimney-breast. The left hand room is the kitchen, parlour in the centre, unheated service room at the right end. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3 window front with a C19 plank front door and a set of C19 2- and 3-light small-pane casements. Interior: The left hand fireplace has a chamfered lintel, chamfered axial beam to centre room. Roof: Not inspected but may be of interest. A very unspoiled small vernacular house.
