7/151 Barn, outbuilding, stone wall and walls to the walled garden north of Pomeroy House GV II
Barn, thatched outbuilding, stone wall and walls to the walled garden. Probably C18. Rendered barn with a thatched roof, hipped at ends; stone rubble and brick outbuilding with a hipped thatched roof and a stack; flint rubble wall; handmade Flemish bond brick walls to the walled garden. The barn is sited rear (north) of the house and parallel to the main range, forming a yard with the rear wings of the house. It has 2 large openings on the south side and a full height blocked doorway on the rear left, it may have been a cider barn, the rear left entrance for carts. North of the barn a smaller, thatched heated outbuilding may have been a gardener's workshop. A section of flint rubble walling extends along the east end of both these buildings. Further north and to the east a walled garden with brick walls. The barn has a loft; 2 2-leaf doors to entrances on the south side to left and right and 2 windows; loft loading door in the centre. Pegged A frame roof trusses of an C18 character. The thatched outbuiding has a brick west wall, it may once have been open-fronted; on the north side there is a chamfered doorframe and C18 plank door. Group value with Pomeroy House.
