WITHERSLACK SD 48 SW 3/45 Witherslack Hall 12.2.62 Farmhouse (formerly listed with farm buildings)

G.V. II

House. Mid C18 with later addition. Roughcast stone with slate roofs. Double depth plan. South elevation of 2 storeys and 5 bays. Dripcourse over ground floor. Modillioned eaves. Windows have small-paned fixed glazing with opening lights. Central entrance has gabled slate canopy, now supported on posts; studded door has: "LD/1852" picked out in studs. Coped gables with kneelers and gable-end stacks, that to left is corbelled. Rear has single-storey gabled wing with outshut under catslide roof to east, similar porch to west; cross-axial stacks and gable-end stack. Rear of house has sashed window with glazing bars and 1st floor window with small-paned fixed glazing with pivoted panel. Small-paned glazing to return attic windows. Lean-to garage to left return. South garden wall has water-worn limestone cresting.
