Town house. c1798. By Hill, builder for Noel Penrose, tailor. Granite ashlar basement, local freestone ashlar above with natural slate roof behind parapet and brick end stacks. Double-depth plan with central entrance hall between 2 front reception rooms. 2 storeys over basement; symmetrical 3-window front. Central doorcase with slender engaged Tuscan columns and moulded entablature with dentilled cornice, panelled reveals, 6-panel door and overlight with traceried glazing bars; first-floor sill string, moulded parapet cornice and original or early C19 twelve-pane sashes under shallow segmental arches with projecting key blocks. Ground-floor masonry left of doorway has at some time been rebuilt possibly to replace former shop front. Original panel doors to basement. INTERIOR: has much of its original carpentry and joinery details. (The Truro Buildings Research Group: Lemon Street and its Neighbourhood: Truro: 1980-).
