Town house over probable fish cellar, later a slaughter house.
1696 deed for Henry Chubb. Painted rubble walls; steep dry
slate roof with full-width C20 slate-hung dormer window;
original rare hand-made clay ridge tile on right with figure
(said to be the devil) on horseback. Double-depth plan. 2
storeys; slightly irregular 2-window range. C20 casement
windows with glazing bars. Central doorway under landing with
C20 glazed lean-to porch of painted rubble staircase from
right with slate treads; also doorway within porch; C20
part-glazed doors. INTERIOR said to have C20 alterations. The
ridge tile is similar to one on Islander Cottage (qv)
(formerly Cheval Cottage), Fore Street, West Looe, and the
Jolly Sailor, Princes Square, West Looe (qv). Included for
group value.
