GV II
House, now shop with house to rear. Mid C17 with later
alterations. Render over timber-framing to front, coursed
limestone rubble to right side; stone slate roof; rebuilt
brick right-end stack. 2 gables to front.
2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. First floor has 2 canted
oriels each of 4 lights with timber mullions and leaded
casements and lead flat tops; two 2-light leaded casements in
gables above. Ground floor has three C20 two-light leaded
windows and C20 half-glazed leaded door. Jetty over ground
floor; carved brackets at the base of both gables to centre.
INTERIOR has closed well staircase from ground to second
floors; ground floor left and right have chamfered beams with
step stops; ground floor left has moulded stone fireplace with
Tudor-arched opening, similar fireplace to ground floor right
damaged and altered; first floor left and right rooms have
similar fireplaces, oriel windows have ovolo-moulded mullions
and carved brackets to each side; first floor rear has early
C19 reeded stone fireplace with mid C19 grate, possibly
re-fixed from elsewhere; roof has curved principals, trenched
purlins and extended collars. Stable Cottage is rear wing,
C18/early C19.
