GV II
Semi-detached houses. 1841-3. Developed by C.H.Hill. Yellow brick, stucco and roof of slate. Two storeys over basement, each house two bays wide to the street and divided from its partner by a vertical sunken panel one brick deep. Basement stuccoed; ground-floor windows round-arched with gauged-brick heads and radiating glazing bars to no 58; stucco storey band between floors. First-floor windows flat-arched with sashes of original design. Side entrance to no 56 up steps with pilasters and plain entablature, panelled door and overlight; side entrance to no 58 up steps flanked by a balustrade, rebuilt as a two-storey wing. Decorative bracket to enclosed eaves. Party wall expressed above roof and carrying central stack. Dormers to both houses.
