Bank building. 1899-1902. Norman Shaw. Granite, striped yellow and grey, with terracotta window dressings, slate roof. 4 main storeys with mezzanine and attics, 5 bays. Large round-arched entrance, banded and rusticated with a cornice/string. The upper floors have small-paned windows in moulded terracotta architraves (with cornices to first floor, keystones to top floor). Rich top cornice with dentils, egg and dart, and modillions. 2 storeys of dormers on roof, the lower ones with segmental pediments. Large gable stacks and central axial stack. Fine interior, circular, with centre round lantern, radiating coffered and carved panels with painted swags of fruits, rich frieze and cornice, 8 triple pilasters striped with green marble, oval medallions etc.
