GV II
Terraced houses. c.1840. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, roof obscured by parapet. Four storeys over basement, two windows each. Basement and ground floor stuccoed, the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. Steps up to flat-arched entrance, the doorcase consisting of thin pilasters, cornice and overlight, with broad doors divided into three vertically. Ground-floor windows flat-arched with architrave of panelled Doric pilasters, and slightly recessed. First- and second-floor windows also recessed between brick pilaster-strips; those on the first floor flat-arched with piano nobile proportions, Doric impost blocks, entablature and panel of Greek key ornament above; those on the second floor round-arched with apron, stucco impost block and archivolt set against a panel of plain stucco; all first- and second-floor windows recessed with 6/6 sashes, mostly renewed; stucco cornice and stuccoed attic storey, the windows in recessed panels, the subsidiary cornice and blocking course breaking back and forth. Area railings with torch flambe finials to nos 44-48.
