GV II

Inn. Mid to late C18. Painted Flemish bond brickwork, tile roof, brick stacks. A corner property, returning to Smiths Lane, with hipped roof to front block. 3 storeys and basement, 3-windowed. 9-pane above 12-pane sashes to brick voussoirs and stone cills. Ground floor, with channelled rendering, has a C20 window with leading each side of central recessed door, and a small plinth. Pavement access to basement. 3 course brick band above first floor. There is a deep brick stack to the left eaves. The return front is in 3 bays, with 2 blind openings at first and second floors and one C20 light. First floor has segmental heads. The channelled ground floor has various C20 lights and a door, all in plat-band raised surrounds. A small one-storey wing extends to the right. The back wall is mainly in plain brickwork, but with one C20 window at second floor. INTERIOR: ground floor and basement only inspected. The basement is approached by a typical 'Tewkesbury' staircase with winders in brick with timber nosings. Ground floor is all of C20.
