At the Sign of the Herald Angel
GV II
House. Late C18 or early C19. Coursed squared limestone
rubble; clay tile roof; rear axial stack rebuilt in
reconstituted stone. 2 storeys and attic; one-window range.
First floor has one 8/8-pane sash in plain reveal with stone
cill. Ground floor has C19 6x3-pane shop window in moulded
timber surround. Gabled half-dormer with 2-light timber
casement. 4-panel door cut through to give 'stable' effect to
right under exposed timber lintel with date 1647 scratched on
it (apparently recent and improbable). Shallow ashlar plinth;
quoins to left and right angles. INTERIOR not inspected.
