Details
STANNINGTON AI (West side) NZ 27 NW Stannington Vale 8/56 Vale House, with attached pier, wall and railings II House, late C18 with early C19 extension. Squared roughly-tooled stone, with tooled-and-margined quoins to extension; Welsh slate roof. Main part 2 storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical. Central renewed door with overlight, with 12-pane sash window above; flanking bays with tripartite sashes. Moulded cornice with blocking course; coped gables with stepped-and-corniced end stacks. 1-storey, l-bay extension to right has similar tripartite sash and moulded brackets to eaves; coped right gable with stepped-and-corniced end stack. All openings have raised panels above giving the appearance of wedge lintels; all sashes renewed except for that in extension. At far left attached pier with moulded capital and ball finial, joining short dwarf quadrant wall with raised coping and plain railings.
