II
Three shops with living accommodation, formerly three houses known as 'Craven's Terrace'. Early C19. Rendered with slate roof. 3 storeys. Ground floor entirely altered in C20. Upper storeys remain unaltered, with painted quoins at the left, glazing bar sashes, and a cornice gutter. Each former house has one bay to the left and a projecting bow to the right which contains 3 windows on each floor. On the 1st floor the left-hand bay of No 221 (at the left) is blank, but there is a bowed oriel projecting from the left-hand return wall. This has sashed windows and faces Northumberland Street. Chimneys to right of each house. No 217 at the right, contains Brucciani's cafe on the ground floor, which retains some features in an Art Deco style, including fascia lettering, entrance doors, and wall panelling with inset mirrors, clock and picture.
