GV II*

Terrace of 5 houses, now offices. 1722. Stucco with limestone dressings, brick party wall stacks and a pantile mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Each of 3 storeys, attic and basement; 2-window range. Articulated by rusticated pilaster strips to a moulded coping. Outer pairs have outer doorways, No.23 on the left: timber canopies on thin brackets, moulded frames and 6-panel doors with glazed top panels. Recessed windows with exposed frames and 6/6-pane sashes; 2 tall dormers with 6/6-pane sashes. INTERIOR: panelled hall with elliptical arch to fully-panelled ground-floor rooms; dogleg winder stair has column-on-vase balusters, square newels and a moulded rail; 6-panel doors and shutters. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached front area wrought-iron railings and gates with urn finials. Probably built by John Price for speculative letting (Ison).
