House. Dated 1887. Snecked red sandstone ashlar; gabled slate roofs and brick stacks. Asymmetrical complex plan. Scottish Baronial style. 3 and 4 storeys; irregular window pattern. 3-storey crow-stepped gable to the left, 4-storey square tower to the right with a taller stair turret and canon waterspouts; castellated parapets with false machiolation. The entrance, approached from the left by a flight of stairs to the first floor, has a large semicircular arch under a crow-stepped gable with a datestone. Rainwater heads are also dated. A low circular bay is to the right. INTERIOR not inspected. This is a prestigious house in a dominant position high above the town.
