Cottages. Mid C17, refronted late C19. Brick to timber-frame; steep pitched Welsh slate roof with central gable; brick cross-axial ridge stack; massive rubble stack to rear. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range: irregularly spaced 2/2 sashes under ashlar and blue brick segmental arches; similar window to gable. Irregularly spaced entrances: 5 plain doors, and (to No.45) battened plank door; four 2/2 sashes; similar arches. Right returned side: roughcast over rubble; 2 fixed lights over C20 light in altered opening. Rear: Nos 43 & 44: rubble; two C18/C19 two-light casements, over C18/C19 plank door and 2-light casement. Nos 40, 41 & 42: roughcast; brick stack; two C18/C19 two-light casements; gable with steeper pitch to left. INTERIOR: exposed timber-framing; stop-chamfered ceiling-frames; massive stop-chamfered posts; plastered rubble stack; stone winder stair. Largely intact range of C17 cottages, obscured by C19 front.
