Terrace of 3 houses, that to the right is a hotel. c1850. Snecked rubble with long/short freestone dressings and quoins; stucco wing to the left; stone coping to continuous slate roof with brick stacks to gable ends and party walls. Double-depth plan with lower set-back wing to the left. 2 storeys with attics; each house is 2-window range. Each house has 2 gabled dormers with decorative bargeboards over a 2-light casement window with small panes; small gutter brackets; 6/6-pane sash windows to the first floor and one tripartite sash window to each ground floor, all with keystones. The doors, to the left of each house, have semicircular arched projecting porches with open fanlights and trellised fronts. No.12 to the right has C19 sliding shutters in a delicately fretted frame to the first floor, No.14 has C20 shutters. The row is notable for its attractive use of stone. The lower wing to No.16 to the left has a 6/6-pane sash window over a canted bay with a hipped roof and 8/8-pane sash. INTERIORS not inspected, but noted as having C19 open-string staircases with fretted ends and swept mahogany rail. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: rubblestone walls to front with freestone capping and gabled gatepiers with long/short quoins.
