Terraced houses. 1801-2. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, roof of no 16 of artificial slate, otherwise roofs obscured by parapet. Three storeys over basement, two windows each except no 1B which has three windows. Round-arched entrance with gauged brick heads, the doorcase deeply recessed under a second arch with pilaster jambs;fluted on their inner sides, and cornice; except that nos 3, 7 and 13 now lack pilaster jambs, and nos 15 and 16 have pilaster jambs with reeding, and a modillion cornice to no 16; fanlight, with decorative glazing to nos 7 and 16, panelled doors of origingal design to nos 10, 13 and 16. No 16 has a prostyle Doric portico. All windows flat-arched with gauged brick heads except first and second floors of no 16 which are cambered. 6/6 sashes of original design to nos 2 (ground floor), 3 (first floor) and 11 (first floor). Parapet. Stacks to party walls. No 1B much rebuilt. Cast-iron railings to area railings. Overthrow lampholder to no 16. (Eric Willatts: Streets with a story. The book of Islington: London: 1986-).
