Includes: No.2 GREAT GEORGE STREET. Shop. 1762. By Thomas Paty. Brick with limestone dressings, party wall stacks and slate hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Mid Georgian style. 3 storeys; 3-window range, 3 windows to right-hand elevation. Principal elevation in Great George Street, with 1 window in the curved corner; a symmetrical elevation with a projecting pedimented centre and parapet. C20 shop front; first-floor sill band, ashlar pediment with a round sunken panel. Windows have Gibbs surrounds with triple keys, to 6/6-pane sashes, 3/3-panes to second floor. Right-hand mid C19 two-storey block has a central mid C18 doorway with Gibbs surround and bracketed cornice. INTERIOR: altered, a mid C19 stair flight from the entrance; moulded cornices. A pair to No.47 (qv).
