ST315874 SOMERSET STREET, Kingsdown 901-1/35/1543 (South East side) 04/03/77 No.36 (Formerly Listed as: SOMERSET STREET Nos.30-36 (Consecutive))


Two attached houses, formerly shops, now one house. Early C19. Stucco, brick end stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 3 storeys and basement; 5-window range. Rusticated pilasters to a cornice and parapet; a right-hand 3-light 2-storey oriel with a small fanned base on a pair of cast-iron stanchions on stone plinths, has 6/6-pane windows; a left-of-centre doorway has fluted consoles and a moulded cornice, a 6-panel door and rectangular overlight; C20 16-pane window to the right for a former shop front, beneath C20 6/6-pane horned sashes. The rear has a full-height 3-light bow. INTERIOR not inspected. Shown on Ashmead's 1828 Map of Bristol. (Mellor P: A Kingsdown Collection: Bristol: 1987-: 76).
