31/848 No 14 (Newstead) (formerly listed with boundary walling to Mill Lane and Old Mill Lane and entrance gates and gate piers at junction 31.12.73 with Mill Lane)

House. Dated 1873 on stair. Stucco with slate roof. 2 storeys and 3 bays. Ground floor sill band, 1st and 2nd floor sill courses and bracketed cornice. 1st bay has open pediment. Round and segmental headed windows with egg-and- tongue moulded arches, keystones and imposts. Porch has open pediment/gable with round-arched entrance with rusticated pilasters and egg-and-tongue mouldings. Octagonal tower on angle, 3 storeys, round-arched windows, top cornice and battlements. Fire escape and flat-topped dormer to left of tower. Garden front has 2 storeys, with a wide 3-sided 2- storeyed bay window and 4 further windows (in 2 pairs) on each floor. A 2-storeyed verandah of slender iron columns, and delicate iron leaves and tendrils in spandrels, the ground floor verandah forming a balcony to 1st floor, and the upper verandah covered by the projecting eaves of the roof.
