Attached pair of houses. c1861. By Joseph Neale. Squared Pennant rubble and limestone dressings, party wall and lateral stacks, and slate hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Italianate style. 3 storeys and basement; 6-window range. A symmetrical front has the middle set forward, quoins, and sill and lintel bands, recessed party wall with quoins, and overhanging eaves. Openings have semicircular arches with alternate sandstone and limestone voussoirs, hoodmoulds, foliate springers and plate-glass sashes. Single-storey porches in the angles with the middle have wide doorways with C20 doors. Ground-floor canted bays to the middle have triple attached shafts, taller central windows and a balustrade; tripartite windows above, smaller on second floor, single windows over the doors, and paired outer windows. Stacks have corbelled caps. INTERIOR: tiled entrance hall to a foliate semicircular arch, a rear dogleg stair with turned balusters, Tudor-arched fireplaces, and elaborate cornices.
