II

Farmhouse. C17 altered in C19 and mid C20. Built of stone rubble with red brick window dressings. Modern tiled roof with 3 brick chimney- stacks. 2 storeys; 4 windows. Triple C19 casements. Left side doorcase with hood moulding and late C18 or early C19 6 flush panelled door. Right side mid C19 4 panelled door. Rear elevation has one blocked C17 mullioned window. Interior has inglenook fireplace with wooden bressumer and chamfered spine beam. 2 storey C19 stone rubble link block with slate roof and wood and slate verandah leading to formerly detached early C18 brewhouse. 2 storeys stone rubble with slate roof and mullioned windows in tooled surrounds with keystones. Brewhouse has chamfered beams with lambs tongue stops and cambered brick fireplace flanked by 2 coppers. One of the original Domesday manors. (C W R Winter: The Manor Houses of the Isle of Wight).
