Former Bank. Dated 1840 in ground floor fascia: 'INSTITUTED A.D.1816. ERECTED A.D.1840'. Probably stone, but perhaps stucco, now painted, roof of Welsh slate. Two storeys over basement, five-window range. Designed in the manner of a Renaissance palazzo. Outer bays set back at either end. Ground floor has banded and chamfered rustication; outer bays have round-arched openings, that to left now an entrance; between these seven flat-arched openings, now windows, between antae, the glazing of entrance and windows of metal and apparently early C20 in date. Fascia and moulded cornice. All first-floor windows round-arched, those to outer bays flanked by engaged columns with palm-leaf capitals and archivolt, and balustrade to sill; inner bays have three Venetian windows with Corinthian columns set back under a round arch, only the middle window having the outer arch glazed; quoins to projecting central bays and fascia inscribed 'FINSBURY BANK FOR SAVINGS'; dentil and modillion cornice; stacks between outer and inner bays.
