GV II

Two houses, formerly one. Dated 1663 with C19 alterations. Cobbles with sandstone dressings and steep green slate roof probably replacing thatch. L-plan. Facade has drip courses interrupted by later windows. 2 storeys with attic. 2 main bays. Windows have painted stone surrounds and are C20 casements, the left-hand ones imitating glazing bar sashes. Above the original doorway is a one-light rebated and chamfered window of C17 type. Doorways paired in centre of facade. The right-hand one (to No.9) has a painted plain stone surround. The left-hand one has a chamfered surround with quoined jambs and a decorated lintel inscribed: '16 IC M RC 63'. Coped gables. Chimney to right has weathered tabling. Second chimney on ridge of rear wing near junction with main house. Left-hand gable wall has chamfered and rebated and chamfered windows, of one and 3 lights on the ground floor, of one and one light on the 1st floor, and of 3 lights to the attic. The adjoining wall of the rear wing has C20 casement windows in painted surrounds.
